Good Sunday Morning........
Hi All,
My oncologist called this morning- he finally got my films from my MRI and went over them with the SF team. They think the look of the marrow is inflammation from the trauma of the fall, but they can't be sure (and will not take chances with my life) so instead of the PET-CT scan they want me to do another MRI but with Contrast (the radiation dye). Then if it looks like cancer they will reorder a PET-CT. Since my back is healing well, they really think this was just a very traumatic spine injury. This is great news for me! I'm not totally out of the woods yet, but I'm getting into a better place. I'm hoping to get the new MRI done on Tuesday but it may be a day or two later. I can't wait to get this whole diagnosis process over... it's been quite the traumatic month.

I'm glad that I decided to get on the computer before I went to bed (it's close to 3 am here) because I just read your post and I am so happy for you, Julia. I know that you are going to wait until after the MRI to celebrate, but I believe that it will be good news.
Happy, happy, happy for you - I will wait for the final diagnosis to send up the fireworks!
Now, I gotta get myself to bed. I have three 8:00 am classes to teach beginning next week, and my night owl life style is going to bite me in the ass. Have a good night.

That's such good news! Much better than from that other doctor who put such a scare into you.
When I first hurt my right knee years ago and had an MRI, the radiologist *****ad it saw something he felt was suspicious, and the ortho doc put me through all these tests, suspecting bone cancer. After peeing in a bottle every hour for 24 hours (or at least every hour I was up ... something like that ... every time I went to the bathroom, I had to pee in the bottle and save it in the fridge), nothing showed up. So the doc said OK, maybe we should just repeat the MRI in 6 months. Well, the first MRI was a worker's comp paid test; further ones wouldn't be and I didn't know if my insurance would pick it up. So he had his sister, who worked at Duke University Hospital and had a lot more experience dealing with this, look at the MRI ... she said it was nothing, just something stray on the image and no further tests were needed. And all that worry for nothing. I think you've had the same thing.
I'm glad it's almost over for you. Sounds like your oncologist is taking good care of you.
